FLOPPIAS ZERO CHARISMA Well if your a big Weezer fan, like I'm going to guess that you are, Floppias is a great band that you should deffinetly check out. They could only be clasified as pop/punk but there is no need for the clasifacation, they rock, thats it. They also could be related to the Vandals. Ben, the lead singer/songwriter, has a great ear for mixing a catchy tune with semi-light lirics but not macking you fell like your listening to Matchbox 20. The boys from Floppias are creating quite a stir in there scene. All of a sudden they are playing the biggest local shows and getting local radio time on Kwod 106.5. If you ever do get to meet these guys you'll notice right away that they are some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I got a chance to meet them after a show they played with the o-so loved Broodys, at the Cosmic Cyber Drip Cafe in Sac. They were an absolute pleasure to talk music with and they seem to be just as stoked on here situation as I was stoked on there band. If they ever pop up at a show consider your self very lucky to be seeing one of the brightest stars on the west coast. Watch out for there faces all over the place real soon. They have a four song tape newly released and I really dig it a lot! It sounds a lot like Ric Okasic threw a lending hand. Just try not to dance to the first song "Zero Charisma". They are so upbeat in life and it really comes out in there music. Its a great tape that probably wont get the recognition that it deserves. Nicholas Walsh

JACKPOT BONEVILLE BRISK DISK RECORDS Well these guys are about as entertaining of a band as you'll ever find. There kind of an indie/punk/country band with an emphasis on kicking up dust! The band resides in a small town out side of Sacramento Ca. Russ Miller, the lead singer/songwriter of Jackpot is one of the finest musicians I'v had a chance to see. They tend to apeal to a very "music educated" croud. The new album is very well writen and has as many great songs as Jackpot has fans. There are quite a few different tones in this album. There is the country funk that they do so well and there are a few, persay, Tom Petty rockers in there. They even give a stab at a funky-disco-70's pop song called "Dance all Night".In comparisism to the self title "Jackpot" debut album, I'd have to say this one may surpass it. Only on the basis of the diversity of the album. With songs like "Devil in my Blood" and "Fleas on the trail of Time" you cant help but love these guys. Go out and see them as soon as you can, they are the cure for the average band! Nicholas Walsh
